Dries Visser is the creator and owner of Dries Visser Pure-Bred Game.
Dries is a proud game farmer who gained his knowledge about wildlife over a lifetime of living and observing. He was born in the Molopo district on the border to Botswana. Here he grew up among thousands of different wildlife species and raised many an orphan with a milk bottle by hand. It was at this early stage of his youth that his love and interest in wildlife was born.
He purchased a farm in the Thabazimbi area in 1973 and immediately had it fenced for game farming and started breeding with wildlife, while still maintaining his business interests in the Vaal Triangle. He sold his business interests in 1983, moved to the farm and started concentrating on his passion for wildlife.
Today, more than 40 years later, with all his years of experience in game farming, he now concentrates on intensive breeding with selected scarce game species.
Dries Junior, his son, shares this love of wildlife and assists his father with breeding quality game, while handling the professional hunting business as well. They both love and enjoy what they do.
Dries senior’s belief is that a game farmer who presents himself as a selected game breeder must not do so for the financial gain alone. He has to be honest and sincere and must only sell quality animals with outstanding genes to other game farmers. Hereafter it is each individual game breeder’s responsibility to ensure that the gene-quality of game on fenced properties prosper and not degenerate.
He is the owner of many breeding herds of outstanding Zambian breeding sable, all with giant sable characteristics such as a black masked face with exceptional horn length. These animals were imported by Dries himself. Furthermore he breeds intensively with disease-free buffalo of different bloodlines, as he believes that the best quality buffalo must be bred regardless of its point of origin, be it East Africa, Kruger or Addo.
Dries also breeds kudu bulls selectively, as he predicts a great shortage of good genes due to the carelessness with which they are being hunted. The remainder of his selective breeding consists of golden and king wildebeest, as well as black and saddleback impala.
Interested parties are welcome to view the animals first-hand.
